PS Plus November: Dead Island 2 and Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered Lead the Month

News · Daniel Wu · November 4, 2026 · 3 min read

This month's PlayStation Plus Essential additions are live from 3 November — a zombie sandbox and a lovingly restored trilogy. Plus the PS5 releases to watch across 2–8 November.

PlayStation Plus Essential's November 2026 additions are available from 3 November: Dead Island 2 and Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered. It is a month built on two very different kinds of pleasure — one loud, one lovingly restored — and both are worth your download queue.

Dead Island 2 — the loud one

Dead Island 2 is the zombie sandbox that took nearly a decade to reach players and arrived, against the odds, as a genuinely good time. Los Angeles is sunny, the combat is gleefully physical, and the game understands something its genre often forgets: a zombie game should be fun first and frightening second. It is the month's easy recommendation — the game to install first and ask questions about later.

Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered — the careful one

Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered is the quieter prize: the second trilogy of Lara Croft's adventures, restored for modern hardware. These are the games that defined a generation of action-adventure, and the remaster treatment means they are playable now without the compromises that kept them locked in the past. For players who grew up with Lara, it is a return; for younger players, it is a history lesson that still plays well.

What else is out this week

The wider PS5 release calendar for 2–8 November is busy too. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered arrived on 3 November, for anyone whose week needs a giant lizard. On 5 November, two more land on the same day: CRYMELIGHT and Escape Academy 2, the co-op puzzle sequel. It is a good week to be a PlayStation owner with a backlog — and a bad week to be anyone trying to finish one.

The month in short

Why this month works

In our view, November's pairing is smarter than it looks. Dead Island 2 is the crowd-pleaser — loud, funny, immediately enjoyable — and Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered is the slow burn, the trilogy you work through over weeks. Together they cover both kinds of subscriber: the one who wants something to play tonight, and the one who wants something to sink into. That is a better curation than a month of three similar games, and it is the kind of pairing that suggests someone at PlayStation is thinking about how people actually play.

A practical note: claim both games even if you are not ready to play them. PlayStation Plus Essential additions are yours to keep as long as your subscription lasts, but only if you claim them during the month. It costs nothing and takes a minute — and a year from now, you will be glad the trilogy was waiting.

A note on the remaster

Tomb Raider 4–6 Remastered deserves a word of its own, because remasters of this era are a gamble: restore too little and the games feel unplayable; restore too much and they stop being themselves. The trilogy — The Last Revelation, Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness — covers the most experimental stretch of Lara's early career, including the entries fans argue about most. That argument is part of the appeal. A remaster does not settle it; it gives everyone a fresh copy of the evidence.

For players who came to Tomb Raider with the modern reboot trilogy, this is a chance to see where the series started — tank controls, sprawling tombs, and a heroine who was already an icon before she had a backstory. Play it as history, and it rewards you. Play it expecting a modern action game, and it will frustrate you. Both reactions are fair, and both are worth having.

Two strong additions, both available now, and a release week with something for every taste. Claim the Plus games before the month turns over — they are yours to keep as long as your subscription lasts — and start with Dead Island 2 if you only have time for one.
